Thursday was the big competition! I was so impressed with what my students created. Their goal was to get a ping ball into a cup. Basic rules were: at least 10 steps, only use provided materials, use at least three simple machines, not to exceed 2'x4', and for full points should run for at least 10 seconds. This all had to be completed in 600 minutes with four team members. What a challenge! Kids wrote reflections after each work session to help guide the process. Two groups came very close to making it to the four class competition! Jesse's team won by just one point which brought them to the competition level. In the end, they missed first place by just half a point!!! Congratulations to all for constructing some ingenious contraptions! Rube would be proud.
